BCHS was back on the mat after a week off at Statesboro High School’s “Battle in the ‘Boro” Saturday morning. Despite the 11 am start(and late night for many who were at Friday’s football game in Washington County), a good crowd made the trip down I-16 to cheer them on.
The Royals debuted their new competition uniforms. Fans were treated to a great performance despite several competition members also being on football squad.
What made it great? They hit everything. Partner stunts stayed up. Stunt groups stayed up. The pyramid hit completely. Other aspects such as running tumbling, jumps were also solid as per usual.
The results would solidify what was a good day on the mat. Third place, Toombs County. Second place, Bacon County. First place, Bleckley County! There was a loud cheer from those wearing purple and gold, another when everyone was gathered outside for photos.

Head coach Heather Davis said she was so very proud of her squad for sticking everything, noting besides the late night for many, they’d also been dealing with injuries during the week. The Royals will host Battle at the Kingdom November 6.
