Bleckley BOE named GSBA Governance Team of the Year.

After being a finalist for several years in a row, the Bleckley County Board of Education was named Georgia School Board Association Governance Team of the Year (small category.) That category encompasses school districts with 1,000 to 3,000 students.

The announcement was made during an awards program held December 1 in Atlanta honoring all finalists. According to a release, finalists were vetted by an application process and vetted by a visit from an impartial review team to vet the information in the application.

Winners were chosen by a panel of national experts who perform various leadership roles in the field of public education. Recognition is based on the components of the Georgia Vision for Public Education’s research-based recommendations for Georgia’s public schools

The Board of Education consists of: Superintendent Dr. Steve Smith, Chair Mike Sasser, Vice Chair Amy Williams, along with members Shanna Evans, Diane Lester, and Melissa Stewart.
