It was a very good year for local sports.

From BCHS to the rec. department, 2021’s been a very good year for local sports teams. Here’s a look back at some of the highlights.

February- COVID-19 stretched the 2020 cheer seasons for middle and high school into 2021. BCMS won region. BCHS broke a six-year region title drought and finished state runner up. BCMS basketball won region after falling in the semifinals the past two seasons.

Spring- BCHS baseball won region, advancing to the elite eight. Girls soccer won their first playoff match in program history. Both tennis teams won region and advanced to the final four. Girls golf won region, both the girls and boys finished in the top six at state. For BCMS, both tennis teams won region as did boys track.

Summer- The 8u baseball team won district, won state, and advanced to the Dixie Youth world series. Both the 8u and 10u softball teams finished state runner up.

Fall- BCHS football won region and finished 11-1, both were the best in school history. Lady Royals softball finished region runner up and advanced to the sweet 16 for the eighth straight season. Both cross country teams won region and finished third at state.

BCHS Competition Cheerleading won the third state title in program history, the first since 2001-02. At BCMS, Barons football finished region runner up. Girls cross country won region and won state for the second time in three years. The cheerleaders won a second straight region title in October.

At the rec. department, both the 10u and 12u football teams won district. The 10u team finished state runner up.
