Middle Georgia State University provided details on the storm damage suffered on the Cochran campus last night. According to a release, Regents Hall, an unoccupied residential hall, had a 300 square foot section of its roof removed due to strong winds. At least 15 trees are down in front of Georgia Hall, behind Dillard Hall, and along Cook Road and Lakeside Drive.
A few cars were damaged from overturned trees. The Lakeside Drive entrance has trees and debris stacked on both sides. Roads were cleared and made accessible for law enforcement and emergency medical services. Power was out briefly overnight but returned this morning.
As was previously noted, classes were cancelled due to road closures around the Cochran campus. They will resume April 11. Resident Halls and Dining Services are open.
MGA President Dr. Christopher Blake is on campus surveying the damage. He’s “leading the charge on the campus’s road to recovery” and is “eager to restore operations and get students back in classrooms while ensuring the safety of the MGA campus community.”
