It was rec. department night. Rec. players got to be on the field standing next to their varsity counterparts for the national anthem.


BCHS closed out their regular season against the team they opened with, Jeff Davis, at home Friday night. Despite outhitting the Jackets 7-3, the Royals offense couldn’t get the needed hits to win.

JD scored one in the second, two in the fourth. BC had at least one runner on base in each of the first three innings but couldn’t score. Second and third with two outs in the fifth produced no runs.

Another runner was stranded in the sixth. Eli Mullis doubled to lead off the seventh. Braegan Cravey walked, pinch ran for by J’Shun Height. Both runs would score on RBI hits by Buck Hill and Caleb Senters with two outs.

But with two on and two out, the final batter would be called out on strikes. Two players took called third strikes that inning. BC struck out 13 times. Hill was 3 for 3. Mullis went 1 for 2.

JR Fordham gave up one earned run, three hits, five walks, in five and 2/3 innings. Mullis went an inning plus, including working out of a bases loaded, two out jam in the sixth. BC opens the playoffs at home April 29 vs Fitzgerald. Game one at 3 pm.
