Putting along: BCMS golf team prepares for region.

While middle and high school golf are team sports, they're much more individualistic. There are no cheering crowds like in baseball. So the athletes who particpate at the middle and high school level have to find the motivation from within.

The BCMS golf team has been competing this season under the watchful eye of coach Danny Jones. Jones said that the boys team had been doing well, finishing second in their last match held in Dexter. He said the girls team was in a rebuilidng mode, with only one experienced player.

Thursday was the final of six regular-season matches for Barons golf. They faced off against three other MGMSAA teams. JR Trippe, East Laurens, and Dodge County. The match was played at the Dodge County golf course.

Like with any sport, those playing middle school golf are prepared for the high school level. The BCHS boys golf team was a part of the AA state meet this week. BCMS will participate in the MGMSAA region championship Monday at the Green Acres Golf Course in Dexter.
