With the end of the school year, it was time for the Board of Education to pass the FY24 budget to be prepared for next year. That was part of Tuesday night’s monthly meeting.

According to meeting minutes, there was no public on the proposed FY24 budget. On recommendation by superintendent Dr. Trey Belfower, it was passed unanimously. The final budget will be on the table at the June 13 monthly meeting. There will also be another time of public comment before the vote.

In an update on the primary school, Belflower said handicap entrances had been installed and were operational. They were waiting on permanent door hardware for some of the doors. On recommendation from Belflower, the board passed a resolution stating, “for labor, materials, and services for the construction of Bleckley County Primary School have been paid in full and there are no outstanding claims.”
