When Bleckley and Fitzgerald go head to head in sports, there's often lots at stake. In 1995, the Royals baseball team eliminated Fitzgerald en route to a final four appearance. Royal football fans will never forget 2006 when BCHS upended the Purple Hurricanes on their way to the elite eight.

Chase Raffield makes a play on the move.

Monday's summer league baseball games didn't have that type of drama. But they were two competitive five-inning games. Game one saw Bleckley unable to hold a 7-5 lead as Fitzgerald scored three times to win 8-7.

Pitching dominated the second game as neither team could push a run across. It ended in a scoreless tie. Brennan Ethridge and Greg Woodard pitched for the Royals.

Tuesday's home game against Telfair has been cancelled. The last summer league game is scheduled for June 26 in Swainsboro at 5 pm.
