On paper, Wednesday night’s quarterfinal game between BCHS and Mt. Pisgah Christian was unlikely. The Royals were a #3 seed, the Patriots a #4. Both teams had won games on the road to get to this point.

A pretty much full house was on hand for the game. The first half was very back and forth. Mt. Pisgah led by as many as four points, BC’s biggest advantage was three. It was 29-28 Patriots at halftime.

Things changed in the third quarter. MP scored five points in the final minute to take a nine-point lead. BC went 2 of 8 from the foul line that quarter. In the fourth, MP pushed their lead to 12. Bleckley would get within three with less than four minutes left in the game only to be outscored 11-3 down the stretch in a 66-55 loss. The team went 10 of 22 from the free throw line.
Kam Everett had 17 points. Nykez Farrow scored 13 points. The run to the elite eight was the best for BCHS since 2013. The Royals finish the season 21-9.
