Throughout the season for the 11-12 boys All-Stars, two things have been consistent. The team has shown a capability of coming back, and usually were the last team to leave.

Both trends have been true in this week's district tournament held in Eastman. Thursday night, BC staved off elimination twice to defeat Jenkins and Treutlen Counties. The second game went into extra innings, which meant another late night for the team and its supporters.

Friday, Bleckley faced undefeated Screven County for the championship. Back to back home runs by Screven in the first put Bleckley in an early 3-1 deficit. By the fourth inning, the hole was 7-2.

That's when the Bleckley bats came alive. Seven runs, including a Dylan Churchwell grand slam, put BC ahead for good. Though Screven would score once more, two more runs in the fifth gave Cochran an 11-8 win.

The two teams would square off again since the tournament was double elimination. Bleckley found itself down 8-1 after two innings. Though they would battle and pull to within 9-5, a two-run home run in the sixth by Screven proved too much of a hole to climb out of as the season ended with an 11-6 loss.

Bleckley's boys 11-12 All-Stars finish their 2008 season with four trophies. One first place, and three second place, including the GRPA Class C District Runners-up. Congratulations to the coaches and players on a good season.
