A summer tradition continues.

Summer is a time for vactions. A time for fun. It's also a time for sports. Children play All-Star ball, or travel ball.

But what of the older youths or adults? Or maybe those who simply still enjoy slow-pitch softball despite fastpitch replacing it?

The answer is church league softball. Two to three times a week, churches throughout Bleckley County play co-ed softball at both Limestone and Ruth Baptist Church.

On Thursday night, action took place at Ruth. Their team won the first game, defeating My Father's House 6-2. In game two, a second My Father's House team held off a late rally from El Shairah Baptist to win 9-5.

The end of the season tournament will be held at Ruth Baptist Church on July 25-26. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be on sale, and free ice will be provided.
