No letdown as Lady Royals beat Toombs Thursday.

Marlee Bryan improved to 4-0 Thursday.

Toombs County was probably the perfect opponent for the Lady Royals Thursday. Coming off Tuesday's important road win in Vidalia, it would be easy to suffer a letdown at home.

Katlyn Darsey makes a play at short.

But it was the Lady Dogs who handed Bleckley a pair of 1-0 losses last year, including one in Lyons that saw the game end on a controversial double play. So Bleckley had motivation.

Brittney Mullis had three hits versus Toombs.

A three-run third inning helped to get things going. Though Toombs would score a run with two outs in the fifth, the Lady Royals answered with two more. A final sixth-inning run gave BCHS a 6-1 win.

Jill Couch slides into third.

Brittney Mullis was 3 for 4 with a double. Avery Purser was 2 for 3 with a double and 1 RBI. Katlyn Darsey was 1 for 2 with a double and 1 RBI. Marlee Bryan had eight strikeouts in the win.

Avery Purser tosses to Lana Maddox at first.

Bleckley improves to 7-1 overall, 2-0 in sub-region play. BCHS plays at Dodge County September 4 at 5 pm.
