BCHS softball opened the season at home Thursday afternoon against Pierce County. The Lady Royals had a good summer, winning five scrimmage games. However, the offense never got on track against the Lady Bears.

Bleckley’s only lead, 2-0 after the first inning, was erased by a three-run top of the second. In the bottom of the third, BC had two on with out but couldn’t score. They had runners at first and third with no outs in the fourth but again couldn’t capitalize.

Pierce scored two in the fifth. After stranding another runner in the sixth, Bleckley would leave the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh in losing 5-2. Despite five walks and four hit batters from Lady Bears pitching, the Lady Royals had just two runs on three hits. Alaysia Coley was 1 for 2 with a double.
