BCHS had their longest trip of the season for regional/sectionals Saturday, a trip Northeast to Commerce High School. The Royals were looking for their first region title since the COVID moved season in Winter 2021.

Despite the long trip, a large contingent of supporters were on hand. The familiar chant of “Bleckley County” could be heard as the squad prepared to enter the gym.

The crowd roared as BC was called to the mat. What they saw was something they, the coaches, everyone had been waiting to see all season long.

That being their cleanest performance all season. Everything hit. Stuns stayed up. The pyramid hit.. There were no issues with tumbling.

As the routine ended, excitement could be seen on the squad’s faces as they knew they’d done it. As there were other regions to compete, it was a while before results.

When they were announced, the squad huddled with bated breath. Second place, Dodge County. First place, Bleckley County! There was another loud cheer and celebration by the squad and supporters of the results.

Later this evening, the GHSA posted all sectional scores for Class A, Division 1. Bleckley finished tied for third with 83 points, which means they’ll perform later at the November 14 state finals. It’s at the Macon Coliseum. Their session starts at 3 pm.
