Royals dispatch Braves to advance in playoffs.

BCHS opened the GHSA playoffs Friday afternoon against Heard County. The Royals and Braves last met in 2017 with BC winning the series two games to one.

In game one, Jay Johnson’s fourth inning home run tied the score 1-1. Lane Sapp’s sixth inning sac fly gave BC a 2-1 lead. Though the leadoff batter for Heard reached in the seventh via an error, he was left stranded as Bleckley held on 2-1.

Johnson was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI. Gavin Cole was 1 for 2.

Down 2-0 early in game two, BC took the lead on a five-run top of the second capped by Caleb Foskey’s first high school career home run, a three-run blast .

That was followed up by a Charles Elliot sac fly in the third, then by four in the fourth and two more in the fifth. Though the Braves got two runners on in the home half, both were left stranded as the Royals secured their sixth straight sweet 16 berth, 12-2.

Foskey was 2 for 3 with 4 RBI. Noah Woodard went 4 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI. Jay Johnson was 3 for 4 with 1 RBI. Brody Fleming was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI. Lane Sapp was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI.
