Mixed results in final BCMS home basketball games.

With Thursday being the last home game for eighth grade players, there were distractions for both BCMS basketball teams as they hosted East Laurens. Though the Lady Barons ended their home season strong, the Barons again fell to the Falcons.

Brianna Webb's basket was part of a 7-0 run to erase what was an early 2-0 lead for the Lady Falcons. BCMS led 7-2 after one. Bleckley would slowly continue to build its advantage, leading 16-7 at halftime.

Easy scores by Cam Tillmanand N'yaisa Anderson were part of a 9-1 that blew the game open. The Lady Barons led 29-10 after three quarters and went on to an easy 42-16 victory.

Ken Hughes scored the Barons first six points as BC had an early 6-0 lead. EL would answer though and trailed just 8-5 after one. The Falcons used a 10-2 run to take their first lead of the game in the second. BCMS had gotten within 24-22 at halftime.

Though Savon Walters' would tie the score in the third, ELMS answered with a 10-1 run. Up 39-30 going into the fourth, they pushed their lead to 11. That's when the Barons tried to come back. A 12-2 run capped by Rydealous "Spud" Taylor's tip in tied the score at 43 with about 1:30 left in the game.

EL quickly built a four-point lead, Bleckley cut it to three, hitting one of two free throws. Down 3 points with ten seconds remaining, a Taylor three tied the score at 48. Excitement turned to heartbreak as East Laurens was able to drive down the court with six seconds remaining and hit a buzzer beater to win 50-48.

BCMS plays at Swainsboro Monday at 4 pm.
