After winning for the first time last year, the BCMS boys basketball team saw an incredible upswing. The Barons sprinted out to a 4-0 start and were 10-1 on January 22. Though Bleckley would lose two of its final three games, BCMS was still the second seed in the MGMSAA tournament.

Their opponent Thursday was seventh-seeded Toombs County. BC ended the regular season with a win in Lyons, though the offense struggled throughout. In Thursday's game, back to back three's by Rydealous "Spud" Taylor and D'Andre Pitts erased an early 4-1 deficit.

Rydealous "Spud" Taylor had two three-pointers Thursday.

Bleckley would lead by as many as seven. Toombs though was within 13-9 going into the second quarter. Ken Hughes' three about halfway through the second was the Barons only field goal. Hughes was hampered by a sprained ankle suffered in practice. Leading 17-9, the BullPups scored the final six points to get within 17-15 at halftime.

Ken Hughes had one of the Barons four three-point shots versus Toombs.

Taylor hit his second three of the game in the third as part of a 6-0 spurt to give Bleckley a 25-17 lead going into the fourth. A 6-1 Toombs spurt got the Bullpups within 26-23. Savon Walters answered with a three-point play, BC's only basket of the fourth.

The Barons hit enough free throws down the strech to advance 33-23. Bleckley's boys join the girls team in the semi-finals for the first time in recent memory. Though the opponent was unknown as of this writing, the Barons play at 5:30 pm Friday at Dublin Middle School.
