Elizabeth Mathis saw time at pitcher Thursday. Here she throws to first for an out.

While the Lady Royals summer softball games are encouraged because of the improvement of skills they provide, summer activities before August 1 are voluntary. Thursday, three returning players for BC were away. That meant players shuffled into positions they were not familiar with as Paw Print Classic play concluded.

Jordan Williams sets to throw from short.

Game one was against Treutlen County. Down 3-0 in the third, Holly Tedders' RBI groundout got Bleckley on the board. They wouldn't score again and lose 6-1. The offense had two hits. Faith Harris was 1 for 2 with a double. Jordan Williams went 1 for 2 with a triple.

Faith Harris pitched and played third.

Their final Paw Print Classic game was against Cairo. Down 3-0 in the fifth, BCHS loaded the bases with one out but did not score. Cairo scored seven in the sixth and won 10-0.

Aliyah Whitehead steps on the bag for an unassisted out.

Harris, Aliyah Whitehead, and Elizabeth Mathis were all 1 for 2. Bleckley will play at a pre-season tournament hosted by Effingham County High School July 22-23. Games start that Tuesday at noon at Effingham County Middle School.
