Three Bleckley schools to participate in Community Eligibility Provision.
By News release.
Jul 30, 2014, 15:30

The Bleckley School Nutrition Program announced today that they would be implementing the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) at three schools, Bleckley County Learning Center, Bleckley Primary, and Bleckley Elementary for the 2014-15 school year. Through CEP, those schools will be able to offer meals at no charge to students, eliminating the procedure of distributing and processing meal applications.

Said school nutrition director Dr. Kathy Peavy in a statement, “We are very pleased to be able participate in the CEP grant for three of the schools within Bleckley County."

The Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010 includes the implementation of CEP to insure that every student in
low-income neighborhoods and/or districts can participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and
School Breakfast Program (SBP). To qualify, a district or school must have 40 percent or more of its students
eligible for free meals based on direct certification.

Bleckley Learning Center, primary, and elementary school, are the three schools eligible. Participation in CEP eliminates the need for free and reduced meal applications at the schools. Families no longer have to fill out applications and benefit from the free meals.

Through a different program, students at Bleckley Middle School and BCHS will not be required to pay for breakfast. Lunch prices will remain the same.
