Local softball players descend on Douglas.

Adisyn Keel was one of two local players now on Dublin-based SWAT.


School's in session. The rec. department's getting ready for football. But for local softball players, there's always travel ball. Several were in Douglas Saturday at a tournament hosted by Coffee County's recreation department.

Juliette Stevens is one of several members of this summer's s state runner up 9-10 girls team on the Alley Cats.


Joni Lucas and Adisyn Keel, both members of this year's 10 and under all star state runners up, have moved to live pitch. Both made their debuts with Dublin-based SWAT. Kendall Kitchens picked up with a new team from Eastman, Sweet Heat.

Also in action were the Cochran-based Alley Cats. A 10 and under machine pitch team, they've been playing off and on over the past year. The team is coached by Jeff Mickle, Mike Brown, and Scott Kletcke.

The team lost their pool game but beat Sweet Heat 12-0. Despite losing 14-2 to the Hot Shots, a win against Lee County and the 'Cats would play in their first championship game. They led 10-6 going into the final inning but lost 11-10.

Next Saturday, the Alley Cats will host a tournament in Cochran.
