Still adjusting: Cheerleaders compete at Greyhound Invitational.

Though BCHS won their debut last weekend in Houston County, they're still a squad in flux with several injuries. Some are off the mat, others are competing with nagging injuries.

With people still adjusting to different positions, there are going to be bad days. That's not to say Bleckley did everything wrong at the Greyhound Cheer Invitational. Their jumps were good. Tumbling was again solid. Their motions were good.

But stunts struggled. Just one of three stunt groups stayed up the entire time. The pyramid wasn't as solid as last week. Plus, there was a ten-point deduction for illegal basing of a single-base stunt and five more for knees down on a tumbling pass.

The injuries also affected scoring when going against squads with 16 on the mat who have four stunt groups. Higher numbers equals greater degree of difficulty and better scores. However, competitions such as Saturday's are designed for practice as much as anything. Winning is always good but region and state are everyone's focus.

Bleckley will look for a better day at the Falcon Frenzy October 4. Start time is 1 pm at East Laurens High School.
