After a week off, BCHS was back on the mat making the short trip to the Veterans High School Battle of the Bests. While of course wanting to win, the squad wanted to improve and gain confidence.

A chant of "Bleckley County" could be heard as the squad prepared to enter. Their performance Saturday by all accounts was improved. While a stunt group did come down early, none fell. The one-man liberty stunts, while one did not go up all the way, none fell.

BC did have one deduction for knees down on tumbling but it came from someone who had just returned to tumbling after being injured. The pyramid didn't stay up. Fan applauded their efforts as they left the mat.

Though fingers were crossed and breath was held when results were read, Bleckley's name wasn't called. However, head coach Heather Davis said she was proud of the girls effort, noting they'd added things and wanted to try them this week.

The squad travels to Mary Persons for the CheerDawg Classic October 25 at 1 pm.
