BCHS came into Friday's Homecoming contest versus Monticello needing a win. Not just to try and secure a playoff spot but to shake off the malaze surrounding them the past two weeks.

Anthony Wright went in from a yard out on Bleckley's second possession with 1:34 left to make it 7-0. The Royals would make it across the 50 other times in the first half but be unable to score. It was still 7-0 at halftime.

Monticello returned the third quarter's opening kickoff 76 yards to the Royal ten. Despite being backed up to the 19, the Hurricanes connected on a 19-yard touchdown pass on fourth down with 10:01 left to tie the score.

The student section was loud all night.

LaDarrick Vickers provided the answer on a 30-yard touchdown run less than three minutes later. The PAT snap was low, resulting in a blocked kick. BC appeared to have the 'Canes backed up in the fourth. But on third and 16 from their own 14, a 79-yard completion to the Royal six had the Monticello offense in business.

They scored from a yard out with 10:55 left. BC returned the favor, blocking the point after. A potential go ahead scoring drive for the Royals which began on Monticello's 44 after a face mask penalty stalled on the 38. After pinning Monticello back on their next possession, Bleckley appeared to be set up for good field position.

But it ended with a fumbled punt return on the Hurricane 13. Bleckley's defense stopped a late Hurricane drive, recovering a fumble on their own 38. With 1:03 left in the game, the Royals converted a fourth and one from midfield. Cody Evans hit Austin Simmons on a 31-yard completion in the waning moments but time expired.

That sent the game into overtime. Both teams got a shot from the 15. Monticello was stopped on fourth down. BC would convert on third and two from the seven to keep their drive going. Wright's second one-yard touchdown run gave the Royals a 19-13 win.
