A pair of travel softball teams braved the cold, damp, weather Saturday. Both the Alley Cats, coached by Jeff Mickle and Bob Rickerson, as well as the recently-formed BC Storm, coached by Mike Brown and Jon Thrower, were in Cordele.

They were in the 12-u bracket for a new organization, Extreme Girls Fastpitch based out of Cordele. Both the Alley Cats and Storm won their first bracket games, lost their second games, but would win a third game to stay alive.

In game four, the two Bleckley-based teams met, the winner one game away from playing for first place. The Storm scored 11 in the first and went on to win 14-4. Their next opponent was the Fitzgerald Flames, who had beaten the Storm earlier that afternoon.

Down 7-1, they rallied back to within 7-5 but time expired. They finished third. Despite the weather, both teams got experience that will help the players as they grow.
