This time it counts: Subdistrict and district tournaments begin.

After playing in invitationals the past two weeks, games that counted began. The 10 and 12-u softball teams began subdistrict and district play.

In Claxton: The 12-u girls got their first win of the season, 12-6 over Wheeler County to begin district. They play Saturday at 1 pm. Meanwhile in Hawkinsville, the10-u girls received an opening round bye in subdistrict.

They opened against Treutlen County. Bleckley gave up four runs in the first inning. Treutlen would build an 11-3 lead and go on to win 13-5. Natalia Jackson, Trinity Glover and Clara Rickerson were 2 for 2. Laney Peacock was 1 for 2 with 1 RBI. Lexi McHolan went 1 for 2.

Trinity Glover had two good games at the plate.


Facing elimination against Johnson County, BC jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Back to back doubles by Jackson and Glover were part of a four-run third. They would go on to win 11-1. Glover finished 3 for 3 with 2 RBI. McHolan waas 3 for 3 with a double. Rickerson was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI. Jasmine Smith was 2 for 3.

Kourtney Whitehead fielded the game's final out versus Johnson County.


Bleckley plays Hawkinsville at 11:15 am Saturday in Hawkinsville. A win and they'll face the loser of Dodge and Treutlen for a berth in district.
