Devante Mahogney wraps up Lamar's Juan Tucker.

After the second of two off weeks, the Royals traveled to Barnesville for their region opener against Lamar County. Logan Pittman was back in the lineup. Garrett Grizzard was dressed out but limited to punt team coverage. He is expected in the lineup next week. Last year, a pair of pick sixes denied Bleckley a home win against the Trojans.

Lamar got on the board early, scoring on a Juan Tucker touchdown with 8:06 left. The Royal defense, though unable to move the ball, got a stop when they stopped Lamar on a fourth and four from Bleckley's 29. But with 10:46 left in the second, Tucker broke a 20-yard scoring run as the Trojans went up 14-0.

BC's best drive of the half came when Logan Pittman returned a punt to the Trojan 48. But it would end when Cody Evans was intercepted on the 36. The Royals trailed 14-0 at halftime and got the ball to start quarter number three.

LaDarrick Vickers converted a fourth and one from the Trojan 46. He capped the drive on a five-yard run with 6:20 left. Bleckley was within one score but former Royal and current Trojan Tae Holiday returned the ensuing kickoff 26 yards to BC's 40. Lamar's Andruw O'neal capped the drive on an 11-yard run with 2:40 left.

Bleckley appeared to be driving for a touchdown in the fourth. A pass interference penalty put them inside the Trojan 20. But a play for loss then personal foul penalty killed the drive. With under three minutes left, BC again mounted a drive. However, the down marker was wrong and without timeouts, the play called, couldn't be changed.

An intentional grounding penalty pretty much stopped any chance of scoring as BCHS lost 21-7. After just 19 first half yards on the ground, 50 second half yards by Vickers was part of a 109-yard second half. Damien Farrow had 23 yards on five carries and also caught two balls for 13 yards.

Evans completed seven passes for 87 yards. After giving up 207 first half yards, including 187 on the ground, Bleckley's defense held Lamar to 55 total second half yards. Bleckley hosts Macon County for Homecoming October 16. Kickoff is 7:30 pm with Homecoming activities at halftime.
