Girls win in split of home finale.

Jahnaria Brown followed a scoreless half against Houston County with a 10-point half versus Monticello.


BCHS closed out the home regular season Tuesday against Monticello. The Lady Royals and Hurricanes each won when the teams met in January.

Kiley Moe connected on this three.


After being held to two points Saturday, Jahnaria Brown had eight in the first as BC led by eight. Kiley Moe had a pair of three's and Alexis Ligon hit a three with 24 seconds left to make it 30-18 at halftime.

A buzzer-beating three by the Hurricanes cut what was a 17-point deficit to 14 after three. But Bleckley opened on a 9-2 burst and pulled away 62-38. Ligon finished with 24 points. Brown had 18.

Willie Taylor and DJ Lemmon combined for 11 of the Royals 15 first quarter points as BC trailed by one. Lemmon's second three of the game with under four minutes left in the second made it 22-18. The Hurricanes answered with a 9-3 burst to lead 27-25 at halftime.

After going up five on a Taylor dunk in the third, Monticello closed the quarter 20-6 to lead by 47-38. Lemmon's fifth three of the game in the fourth cut the deficit to 49-43 but Monticello pulled away to win 63-50. Lemmon finished with 20 points. Taylor had 15.

The basketball squad cheerleaders entertained the crowd with cheers and chants during halftime of the boys game.


Bleckley will play their final regular season region game Friday at Northeast. JV boys tip at 5 pm with varsity to follow.
