Track athletes qualify for state.

State track sectionals were held Saturday at Ben Hill County Middle School in Fitzgerald. Bleckley had members from a region champion boys team and runner up girls team trying to advance to the state finals in their events.
Competing were teams from regions 1, 2, 4, and 5 with the top eight in each event advancing to the finals. Girls finishing in the top eight were:
Kendall Morton- Fifth in discus.
Fellisia Young- Seventh in long jump, fourth in triple jump.
Faith Harris- Fifth in pole vault.
T'Keyah Pasby- Sixth in shot put.
Ellen Powell- First in 1600 meter run, first in 800 meter run.
Tori Deeson- Seventh in 3200 meter run.
McKinley Cranford- Sixth in 1600 meter run, eighth in 3200 meter run.
Boys qualifying for state finals were as follows.
Will Simmons- Second in pole vault.
Boys 4x100 Relay (Lequan Allen, Logan Pittman, Nykeem Farrow, LaDarrick Vickers) tied second in heat.
Austin Cook- First in heat of 800 meter run.
Anuj Patel- Second in heat of 800 meter run.
Carl Ellis Corley- First in 1600 meter run, first in 3200 meter run.
Dayton Cannon- Third in 1600 meter run.
Nykeem Farrow- Sixth in 100 meter dash, sixth in 200 meter dash.
Bronson Sanders- Third in 3200 meter run.
Boys 4x400 Relay (Clay Blanton, Pittman, Corley, Patel)- Second in heat.
Girls state finals will be May 5-7 at Hugh Mills Stadium in Albany. Boys state finals will be May 12-14 at Jefferson High School.
