Taylor Dykes' grand slam helped blow game one open.

For the second straight year, BCHS opened state softball playoff action at home versus Fitzgerald. Just like last year, the Lady Royals got plenty of offense to help them advance.

Landa Dominy's third inning single gave Bleckley a 3-1 lead. Taylor Dykes hit a grand slam as part of a nine-run fourth. That was more than enough for Riley Edge who struck out seven in a 12-1 game one win. Dykes was 2 for 3 with 4 RBI. Dominy was 1 for 2. Bailey Odom was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI. Jordan Williams went 2 for 3.

Abbey Sims sets to throw from third.

Game two saw both teams match 0's for the first two innings. BC scored three in the third and added five more in the fourth. With two on and one out in the fifth, Edge connected on her first career home run to blow the game open. Dominy was up two batters later with two outs and a runner on.

Faith Harris would get the throw to first in time for a double play.

She blasted her first home run of the season to cap a second straight five-run inning. Bleckley rolled 13-2. Edge went 2 for 4 with 4 RBI. Abbey Sims was 2 for 3 with an RBI triple. Hannah Coulter went 2 for 3 with a double. Williams was 1 for 2.

Landa Dominy is congratulated by coach Teresa Gray after hitting a two-run home run in the fifth inning of game two.

The Lady Royals advance to the sweet 16 for the third straight year and fifth time overall under coaches Janice Bryan and Teresa Gray. They await the winner of Armuchee at Heard County.

Hannah Coulter sets to throw to first after getting the force out at home.

The teams split Wednesday and will play today. If Armuchee wins, Bleckley hosts October 19. Conversely, a Heard County win sends BC to Franklin that day.
