Bailey Odom slides into third with a triple.

So close. After erasing a 4-0 deficit in game one of Wednesday's second round series against Heard County, the Lady Royals appeared to be in control of game two. They had leads of 6-2 and 7-6. But they could hold neither and a late rally came up short.

She would come home on Riley Edge's go ahead two-run home run.

Heard scored two runs in the first and third inning of game one to lead 4-0. BC loaded the bases with one out in the fifth. Landa Dominy cleared them with a grand slam, her second home run of the season. Down 5-4 in the sixth, Riley Edge connected on a two-out, two-run home run that put Bleckley back on top.

Assistant CBRD Director Jordy Gray, BCHS Athletic Director Benjy Rogers, and Principal Dr. Trey Belflower saw Aliyah Whitehead track down a catch.

They added four in the seventh then escaped a bases loaded jam in the home half to win 10-5. Dominy went 3 for 4 with 4 RBI. Edge was 2 for 5 with 2 RBI. Jordan Williams went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI. Taylor Dykes and Hannah Coulter each went 1 for 2.

Down two early in game two, Bleckley scored four in the first and added two in the third. Heard tied the game with a four-run fourth. A two-out throwing error on a ball hit by Faith Harris in the fifth allowed Williams to score but Heard tied the score again in the sixth. Dykes singled to lead off the home half, she didn't score.

The Lady Braves scored three in the seventh. With two outs in the home half, Harris hit a two-run home run. Edge followed with a double, Dykes reached on an infield single but there would be no walkoff as the Lady Royals lost 10-9. The loss came despite outhitting Heard 16-6. Bleckley gave up ten walks.

Teammates and head coach Janice Bryan wait to congratulate Faith Harris on her home run.

Harris went 4 for 5 with a triple and 2 RBI. Williams was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI. Dykes was 3 for 4. Game three will be Thursday in Franklin at 4 pm with the winner advancing to Columbus.
