It all came down to this. A final chance to hit one more time. Dodge County Middle School was the host for the MGMSAA Region Cheerleading Championship. BCMS sought to defend their title won last year in Cochran.

A huge contingent of supporters came out to see if Bleckley could do just that, including the BCHS competition squad. They led the crowd in a chant of "Bleckley County!" as the moment drew close.

Finally, as J Dash's "Wop" played over the sound system, an energetic Barons squad were called to the mat. They were feeding off the crowd's cheers and it showed in their routine.

Loud, energetic, good motions, clean stunts, everything went well. Upon completion, girls were literally jumping into the arms of coaches Becky Smith and Liz Brown to hug them. Though hardly necessary as some stood when the squad came out, Brown was raising her arms to extort more cheers.

Fans would then watch as judges changed sides and the final three teams performed. Excitement was in the air when results were read. Second place, West Laurens. Then the words everyone wearing purple were said by announcer Brad Meeks.

"Our 2016 MGMSAA Region Champions, Bleckley County Middle School!" The shouts of joy and cheers could probably be heard in Cochran. BC won back to back region cheer titles for the first time since 2006 and 2007. Smith's second region title makes her the second most successful coach in school history behind Liz Dykes who won three.

"Hit me Bleckley one more time," indeed.
