Operation Christmas Child is a longtime project of Christian outreach group Samaritan's Purse for children living in extreme poverty as well as victims of war and natural disasters. November 14-21, designated as National Collection Week, is when individuals, churches, and other organizations collect shoe boxes of gifts to be delivered to those children in need.

Mt. Calvary Baptist Church will serve as Relay Center for Bleckley County during that week. The church will open a few hours each day to collect boxes of donations. Items needed in boxes include hygiene items, school supplies, notes of encouragement, as well as toys such as dolls or soccer balls.

Collection hours are as follows.

Monday Nov. 14 4 -6 pm

Tuesday Nov. 15 5 - 7 pm

Wednesday Nov. 16 4 - 6 pm

Thursday Nov. 17 5 - 7 pm

Friday Nov. 18 4 - 6 pm

Saturday Nov. 19 9 am - noon

Sunday Nov. 20 3 - 5 pm

Monday Nov. 21 9 am - noon
