FBLA attends leadership conference, holds new member induction.

BCHS FBLA advisors Melissa Barker and Julie Hutto along with 14 officers and students attended Fall Leadership Conference November 16-17 in Athens. Students attending were Logan Arnold, Jordan Barker, Lacey Bell-White, Kory Brantley, William Deloach, Avery Giddens, Brooke Krieg, Makayla Lucas, Megan McDaniel, Eli Nesmith, Tyler Sapp, Jordan Schronce, Halie Whitaker and Caitlyn Woods.



The students completed leadership tracks including Business Management, Leadership Academy, Career Success, Advanced Officership, Leading Ladies, FBLA Officership, Entrepreneurship, and Region Officer Academy. The group was able to enjoy some of the sites in Athens as they walked to and from the conference center from the hotel.

Many helped raise money for the FBLA Scholarship Fund. All students competed in one of the largest Monopoly tournaments in the world. The team of Makayla Lucas and Eli Nesmith will be in the state Monopoly tournament held during the state leadership conference this March.

Sapp was recognized as placing first in an open event testing at the Fall Motivational Rally. BCHS was recognized as a Gold Seal Chapter, Big Brother, Chapter of the Year competitor, as well as donating a scholarship basket to help raise money for FBLA scholarships.

Officer installation and new member induction was held November 28 in the high school cafeteria. Officers are inducted into office using the FBLA Candle Ceremony. Each candle represents different attributes and traits for each of the officer positions.

The Parliamentarian is responsible for monitoring all formal meetings. The Historian is responsible for maintaining records of the chapter. The Reporter’s job is to report meetings and other newsworthy activities. The Treasurer should exhibit business ability and responsibility. The Secretary is obligated t present and keep a record of meeting activities.

The Associate Vice President and Senior Vice President should be ready to assume responsibility of the Chapter in the absence of the President. The President is to lead and encourage all officers and members of the chapter and preside over all meetings.

Everyone in the chapter is excited about the coming year and the ability to to achieve great things in the coming months.
