If you were inside Bleckley Primary between 4 and 6 pm Thursday afternoon, things looked really different. There were pictures and quotes from Dr. Seuss hanging about. Teachers had on colorful T-Shirts, some donned striped hats.
|
Families could shop for books, posters, and other items at the book fair. |
A sign hanging above the entrance read "Welcome to Seussville." It was the annual celebration of Dr. Seuss' birthday and literacy event.

After signing in, children and parents had a variety of reading and word-based games to participate in. Games focusing on sight words, games where reading the word correctly would get part of a picture of Things 1 and 2.
|
Reading words correctly got children pieces of pictures. Besides reading skills, it also taught them problem solving. |
There was also a book walk, book swap where children could trade out old books for new(er) books, as well as the opportunity to shop at the Book Fair. Faculty estimated 180 students attended.

Children having fun reading. Dr. Seuss would certainly be pleased.
