First place finishers part of good day for track teams at sectionals.

Region qualifiers from the boys and girls track teams and some supportive teammates spent Saturday at Ben Hill County Middle School for state sectionals. Those finishing in the top eight of their events advance to the state finals May 11-13 in Albany.

Three boys team members qualified as first in their events. Carl Ellis Corley was first in both the 1,600 and 3,200 meter runs. Will Simmons continued his mastery in pole vaulting, finishing first. Torenio Davis will be top seed in the high jump, finishing first.

Other qualifiers were as follows.

Girls:
Austin Perez- Second in 1,600 meter run, second in 3,200 meter run.
McKinley Cranford- Third in 3,200 meter run.
Sarah Green- Fifth in 3,200 meter run.
Faith Harris- Second in pole vault.
Leah Rogers- Third in pole vault.
T'Keyah Pasby- Seventh in shot put.

Boys:
Nykeem Farrow- Third in 100 meter dash, second in 200 meter dash.
Garrett Rogers- Seventh in 1,600 meter run, third in 3,200 meter run.
4x100 Team- Third.
Jaylen Thigpen- Fifth in 800 meter run.
Will Simmons- Fourth in high jump.
Porter Arnold- Second in pole vault.
Willie Taylor- Seventh in shot put.
Arkenzio Hayes- Sixth in triple jump.
