Pickleball fun on a Saturday afternoon.



Members of the Bleckley Pickleball Association made use of the mild temperatures to play Saturday afternoon. Players put their names into a bucket matching a particular skill level. Names were collected and matches were made based upon who placed their name in what bucket, allowing them to decide what skill level they wanted to play at. A night of cross country excellence celebrated.

Runnin' Royal seniors were recognized and received a "Runnin' Royal Alumni" hooded sweatshirt.
Both the middle and high school cross country teams had great seasons. All four won region titles, all four had individual state champions. Those accomplishments were some of the many recognized Monday night.

Group from Cochran travels to Mercer to cheer on former Royal Harris.



(Photos contributed.) Former Royal Willie Harris was back in Middle Georgia Saturday with his current team, Gardner-Webb, as they opened the FCS playoffs at Mercer University. A group from Cochran came up to cheer him on. Though the Runnin’ Bulldogs lost 17-7, Harris played well, assisting on two tackles and breaking up two passes.

Gardner-Webb, former Royal Harris, to play at Mercer in playoffs.

Mercer University will host Gardner-Webb in round one of the NCAA Division 1 FCS playoffs Saturday at 3 pm. Former Royal Willie Harris plays for the Bulldogs at defensive end. Annual Davis family Turkey Trot this Thursday.

The 22nd Annual Turkey Trot will be held Thanksgiving morning at 246 Floyd Nesmith Road in Cochran. Registration is at 8:30 am, the event starts at 8:45. Run, walk, ride a bike. Registration is free, you are asked to bring a canned item to donate to the local food bank. Door prizes will be given away.

Update on All Star Football.

GRPA District Football tournaments began yesterday. 8u lost in Hawkinsville to Jefferson County 14-7. The 10u team lost to Washington County 28-7 in Metter. 12u beat Metter 19-0 in Hawkinsville. They will play Jefferson County November 14 in Hawkinsville at 5:30 pm.
