When fans come to the rec. department next spring for baseball and softball games, they’ll notice something different at the fields. New scoreboards, expanded dugouts, and a new, thicker, vinyl-coated fencing. The renovations are currently being done on fields 2, 3, 7, 8, 9.

Fencing and other parts of a dugout on Field 7 have been removed.

SPLOST funds are paying for the work. Director Andy Brand said while getting to host more Dixie Youth and GRPA tournaments, which would generate more revenue for the rec. department was a factor in deciding to renovate the fields, they also wanted to do it for the community.

“Myself and the board felt like the citizens of Cochran and Bleckley County deserve a rec department that looks good and that they can be proud of.”

The work began two weeks ago and is expected to be completed in early February. Visit cbrdrecreation.com for information on the latest happenings at the Cochran Bleckley Recreation Department.
