Basketball teams split season opener against Dodge County.

BCMS basketball tipped off the 2025-26 season at home Thursday afternoon versus Dodge County. The Lady Barons lost 39-18. CJ Taylor scored 15 points and Drayton Blue added 10 points in the Barons 46-20 win. Bleckley hots Jeff Davis December 8. Girls tip at 4 pm with boys to follow.

Athletic signing ceremony held at BCHS.

An athletic signing ceremony was held Thursday afternoon in the BCHS auditorium. Signing their national letters of intent were: Gavin Cole, baseball at South Geogia State University. Cole hit .438 with 35 RBI his Junior year. Ella Gibbs., cross country at Augusta University. Gibbs is a three-time individual region champion and a three-time individual state champion for BCHS. Jack Harrell, cross country at the University of West Georgia. Harrell was the individual state champion this year and a key in leading the boys to two straight titles. Kelsey Sanders, cross country at Middle Georgia State University. She finished 14th at state and is the first Runnin� Royal to be signed by the MGSU program. The athletes are pictured left to right. Congratulations to all.

Running for a Dream.

(Photos contributed.) The sixth annual Landon Padgett �Run for a Dream� 5K and 1 mile fun run races were held November 22 at the BCHS track. The annual fundraiser supports the scholarships awarded to BCHS students at the end of the year as well as the Landon Padgett Family assistance program at Children�s Healthcare of Atlanta. Besides the races, there were activities for kids including inflatables and pictures with Santa. To learn more about the Landon Padgett Memorial Foundation, visit landonpadgett.org

Cochran Masonic Lodge will host Breakfast with Santa December 6 from 7 to 10 am. For $8, enjoy pancakes and sausage plus tell Santa what you'd like for Christmas. Children 12 and under eat free.
