Royals edge Elbert County to clinch semifinal berth. ***Updated***

BCHS traveled to Elbert County Wednesday afternoon for a quarterfinal matchup against the Blue Devils. Game one saw the Royals score two in the fourth but struggle with runners on base the rest of the way, at one point leaving nine on in a row. Elbert loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh but BC got out unscathed for a 2-0 victory. Walker Boatright gave up four hits, walked one, and struck out six. He was also 2 for 4. Charles Elliot was 2 for 3. Jay Johnson went 2 for 4. Casey Finch went 1 for 2. In game two, the Blue Devils took a 2-1 lead to the bottom of the sixth until BC scored twice. Though Elbert got a runner on in the seventh, he was left stranded as the Royals clinched their first final four berth since 2023 with a 3-2 win. Gavin Cole and Noah Woodard each went 2 for 3 with a double. Charles Elliot was 1 for 2 with 2 RBI. Caleb Foskey was 1 for 2. Bleckley will host Vidalia for a berth in the state title game series May 14. Game one starts at 5 pm with game two starting at 8. The *if* game will be May 15 at 6 pm.

BCHS baseball players well represented on all region team.

Region 2A, Division 1 All Region baseball teams were announced recently. Walker Boatright was named Region 2A Player of the Year. Gavin Cole was a first team selection at catcher. Jay Johnson was a first team selection at outfielder. JD Holloway was a first team selection at pitcher. Noah Woodard was a first team selection at third base. Brody Fleming made first team at shortstop. Lane Sapp was a second team selection at outfield. Caleb Foskey made second team at first base. Casey Finch was an honorable mention at second base. Thomas Evans was an honorable mention at outfield. Bleckley travels to Elbert County tomorrow for an elite eight matchup. Note, first pitch for game one has been moved up to 3 pm due to a threat of rain later in the day.

BCHS football player excels at longsnapping event.

Upcoming Royals senior football player Zayden Lassiter was in Las Vegas recently for Vegas 48, a long snapping event hosted by Chris Rubio which featured competition between long snappers and agility courses. Rubio announced via social media that Lassiter was named overall champion. Lassiter has already received numerous college offers. In the post announcing Lassiter as champion, Rubo declared, �He was absolutely phenomenal all weekend and easily ready for college right now!�

Season ends for BCHS Tennis teams.

Both the BCHS boys and girls tennis teams fell in GHSA quarterfinal matches played Monday afternoon. The boys lost 0-3 to Brantley County in Nahunta. The girls fell 2-3 to A.C.E. in a match played at the John Drew Smith Tennis Center in Macon.
