High School Sports
Royals suffer first region loss of season.

Despite outhitting the Golden Hawks 11-6, BCHS suffered their first region loss of the season 6-4 at Washington County Thursday night. Bleckley left nine runners on base. Noah Woodard was 2 for 3 with a double. Gavin Cole was 2 for 3. Jay Johnson was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI. Caleb Foskey was 1 for 2 with 1 RBI. The Royals host Jefferson County in a region doubleheader March 16. Game one starts at 4 pm.

Soccer teams shut out by A,C.E.


The Lady Royals suffered their first region loss, 4-0 to A.C.E. Thursday evening. Jana Tomlin had 32 saves for BC. A first half penalty kick and second half corner kick provided the offense for the Gryphons as they defeated the Royals 2-0. Bleckley travels to Tattnall Square Academy March 17. Girls play at 5:30 pm with boys to follow.

The BCHS tennis teams split matches played versus A.C.E. in Macon Tuesday afternoon with the boys winning 3-2 and the girls losing 2-3. Bleckley hosts Central March 17 at 4 pm.

Down 8-5 in the sixth inning, BCHS scored seven runs over the final two, including a dramatic walk-off grand slam, to defeat Washington County 12-8.

Soccer teams split overtime matches played at Fitzgerald.

Some close soccer matches were played in Fitzgerlad Monday night as both the Lady Royals and Royals contests versus Fitzgerald required penalty kicks to decide the winners. The Lady Royals won their match 2-1. Kylie Reed scored in regulation, Aniston Howell had the assist. Braylee Cobb and Emmy Kay Williams had successful penalty kicks. The Royals fell 3-2. Landon Smith and Willi Dean scored in regulation. Jonah Kelly had the lone penalty kick success as BC was edged 2-1 on PK’s. Region play resumes March 12 versus A.C.E. Girls play at 5 pm with boys to follow.
