Things are direr than previously thought.

First, to those of you who donated in the past. Thank you, your support is appreciated. But after a meeting yesterday with the attorney handling the estate of my dad yesterday, things are much direr than I thought when writing the previous article on the status of things.

You see, I want to continue to live in the only home I’ve known for over 30 years. But I have limited income. While I’m grateful for the businesses that support Bleckley Progress with advertising, it’s not nearly enough at $30 a month. Not with debt involving the house. Not with personal debt, and needing money for everyday living, not to mention the cost of travel to cover games and events.

To quote Danny DeVito’s character from the movie Heist, “Everyone needs money. That’s why it’s called money.” Please believe me when I tell you I don’t like having to do articles like this. But there’s no other way to say it. I need your help. I’ve never missed a day working, not when my grandmother died in 2015, not when my dad died in 2017. I’ve worked when sad, I’ve worked when sick.

Not because of any expectation of gratitude or recognition, but because I take the commitment made to you, the readership, and to the Cochran/Bleckley County community seriously. “Where to go when you need to know” isn’t just a slogan, it’s what I want the site to be. The sacrifices made, I made them willingly to ensure that slogan is not just a slogan, but a reality.

But now, as school begins, and things get busy, I come to you, asking for help to ensure that slogan stays true. If you are a business, please consider advertising. The site gets good traffic at all times, over 10,000 hits a day during the school year. Email BleckleyProgress@aol.com, or call (478)230-6556 for more info. I can send you stats to show site traffic.

If you would like to donate, there are two ways of doing so. Send money via PayPal to BleckleyProgress@aol.com You can send money via Google Pay to bleckleycheerfan@gmail.com I have also created a GoFundMe www.gofundme.com/help-dave-and-bleckley-progress

Again, please understand I don’t like doing articles such as this. But as the expression goes, “desperate times call for desperate measures.” Thanks for your continued readership and support.
