How my finances are affecting weekend coverage plans.

A local travel baseball team is currently scheduled to play in a tournament in Gray this weekend. They'll have pool games Friday and Saturday.

While as a general rule I don't go out to cover events on Sundays, I actually considered going to Gray tomorrow night for those pool games. But my finances just can't handle the extra trip.

My financial situation, for lack of a better term, sucks. While I am grateful to every business who advertises, every person who's ever donated, I am having to face life with one hand proverbially tied behind my back.

I can't access my dad's IRA. My request to get some type of reimbursement for having to pay $700 for tires was turned down. The estate remains unsettled because no one has purchased the farmland.

I have the mortgage and utilities. I'm told I cannot get money from the IRA because of the mortgage (the IRA is being used to pay it.) Even though I would put the money into the Whitaker HR Solutions Checking account, one I already have to pay taxes on anyway.

To say I'm frustrated, to say I'm discouraged would be an understatement. It makes me patently miserable and not enjoy work honestly. But I believe in commitment and am trying to maintain the one began 14 years ago when my dad helped start the site.

There are things you can do to help if you feel led to do so. Donate (PayPal, GoFundMe "Help Dave and Bleckley Progress.) If you have VCR tapes collecting dust, I'll transfer them to DVD for just $10 a tape.

If you have something you want to share that's not news (IE: a birthday, congratulation) you can do a special announcement for just $15. You may not want to do any of those things, but there's something you can do that won't cost a cent.

Pray. Pray for me, pray that someone will want to buy just the land itself. Pray that things will get better for me so that I don't have to keep doing articles like this.

As always, thanks for your readership and support.
