Jalexia Taylor had a second straight double figure game.

BCHS had a rare Wednesday night game as they opened region play at Dodge County. The Lady Royals faltered in the fourth quarter while the Royals pulled out a last-minute win.

Kiara Gilbert drives to the basket.

Down by as many as 13 in the first half, BC trailed 27-17 at halftime. After cutting the deficit to six in the third, a 10-4 Squaws burst pushed the deficit back to 12. Jalexia Taylor’s three-point play drew the Lady Royals within 48-40 in the fourth, but Dodge closed the game on a 12-2 run to win 60-42. Taylor had 17 points.

Millie Hulsey got fouled on this shot.

The Royals had a 10-point lead in the second quarter, but Dodge was within 20-15 at halftime. An 11-3 Indian run to close the third put DC up 30-28. BC was down four late in the fourth when Dodge was called for a foul then a subsequent technical foul for taunting.

Ethan Hulsey hit two free throws in the fourth that cut into Dodge's four-point lead.

Three of four free throws were made. Shon Jenkins then hit his third three of the game with two minutes left to put BC up 39-37. Dodge tied the game with 57 seconds left. Amarion Blackshear’s jumper with 39 seconds left put the Royals back on top.

This jumper by Amarion Blackshear proved to be the game-winning shot.

BCHS hit two of four free throws in the final seconds to secure their first win of the season, 41-37. Blackshear had 15 points. Bleckley travels to Ashburn to take on Turner County December 18 at 6 pm.
