Region play continued Friday night as BCHS hosted Southwest. After a big second quarter, the Lady Royals held off a late charge to get a needed win while the Royals couldn’t dig out of an early hole.

BC led 33-16 at halftime on the strength of a 20-6 second quarter. Up by as many as 21 in the third, the Lady Patriots were within 15 by the fourth. The deficit shrunk to eight before a 16-6 close secured BC’s 68-48 win.

Down 15 points after one quarter, TJ Mays hit three three’s to help draw the Royals to within 36-27 at halftime. Down 7 going to the fourth, BC got within five only to see the Patriots pull away with a 9-1 burst.

Southwest prevailed 66-54. Mays had a career-best 15 points. Amarion Blackshear led with 16 points. Ethan Hulsey had 10 points.

A girls game between Perry and the Lady Royals was finalized Friday afternoon. JV play tomorrow at 11 am with varsity to follow.
