Jalexia Taylor had another big game for the Lady Royals.

Rivalry games tend to bring out crowds, regardless of the records. Though the Dodge and BCHS basketball programs are both struggling this season, a good crowd was in Cochran to see the resumption of the BC and Dodge rivalry.

Kiara Gilbert finishes the fast break.

Up two in the second quarter, Jalexia Taylor had seven points in a 14-3 run that gave the Lady Royals a 32-19 lead. A 16-point third quarter lead was down to 11 by the fourth. Dodge got within seven before BC pulled away 48-35. Taylor had 17 points.

Friday's game sponsors were DGR's Clubhouse, Cochran Insurance and Reality, and Dykes Pharmacy/Needle N/A Haystack. Pictured with boys head coach Garrett Collins are Ken Duffey (Cochran Insurance) and Reggie Warren (DGR's.)

The Royals scored just six second quarter points as Dodge took a 30-16 halftime lead. DC went up by as many as 17 in the third, but BC was within 10 going to the fourth.

Shon Jenkins’ three with 1:38 left in the game tied the score at 47. The Indians though finished on a 7-0 burst to win 54-47. Amarion Blackshear had 16 points. Ethan Hulsey scored 10 points.

Amad Jenkins puts up a short jumper.
