The Cochran-Bleckley Chamber of Commerce and Industrial Development Authority announced an agreement that will see a restructuring of both groups. Moving forward, each will have their own full-time staff. For many years, both groups were supported by two full-time staff members that divided their time between the two.

According to a release, the Chamber will hire a full time president/CEO while current president Andy Lucas will shift his attention to the IDA on a full-time basis. The Chamber has a ten-member board of directors, the IDA a nine-member authority board. The agreement to separate the two groups was reached after months of negotiations.

Both groups will have their own staff, budget, and goals. The Chamber will continue to promote tourism, shop local, Bleckley Bucks, and community events such as Biking Bleckley. The IDA will continue to promote the community, workforce, and lobby for government funding within their scope. Both will continue to reside in the municipal building at 102 North Second Street.

The boards of both groups believe that by letting the Chamber and IDA operate as separate entities will aid in promoting the community.
