Monday’s rec. board meeting was pretty short, lasting about 30 minutes. It was a busy one though as many things were discussed including finances as well as future fundraising plans.

In discussing financials, Chan Jones said they were in good shape. He said he would like to get the account built up to where they would be able to afford paying for next year’s world series without having to ask the city or county for money, One thing Jones will be doing is investing money into a CD to give the department a fund in case of emergency.

Jones said he wanted to do a 30 in 30 gun raffle, similar to what many school booster clubs do, in June. That began a discussion of other fundraisers to do for baseball opening day in March.

Plans are underway to do a CBRD-themed T-Shirt sale as well as a chicken plate sale Details will be released when closer to time. During his report, director Andy Brand said basketball registration was up by 17 participants from last year.

In terms of getting to host state tournaments, Brand said he was still waiting for updates regarding bids to host softball. He said they may get a chance to host 10u baseball state since Wrens (who had been awarded the berth this year due to state not taking place last year(, had backed out.

Brand went over some recent SPLOST money purchases including concession stand equipment and PA systems for all the fields. Getting the air conditioning for the office building was on the future to-do list.
