Cheerleaders finally break through at region.

After winning region in 2014, the past several region competitions haven’t been kind to BCHS. There were years where the squad would simply have a bad day on the mat. Then there was last year’s controversial judging which cost BC the title.

That took place where Saturday’s region and sectionals were held, Vidalia High School. The Royals sought to not only break their title drought but secure a berth at state February 15.

Despite the early start time, a large contingent of family and friends made the trip south to cheer on the Royals. They roared as BC was called to the floor. It was another great performance by the squad, building off last week at Battle at the Kingdom.

Good energy, good jumps, good motions. If the goal was to leave it all on the mat, BC did just that. Dodge though still awaited. Did the Royals do enough to reclaim the region title?

Second place, Dodge County High School. “And first place, Bleckley County High School!” As “All I do is win” played over the sound system, some supporters began to throw their hands in the air in joy over winning.

The squad with head coach Heather Davis.

Head coach Heather Davis couldn’t be more proud of her squad saying, “I’m unbelievably proud of the girls. They’ve worked so hard, overcome so much. They truly deserve this.” BCHS will compete at state in Macon February 15. It starts at 4 pm.
