When BCHS and Lamar were last region rivals several years ago, the programs battled for 4-AA supremacy. Their rivalry renewed in a 3-AA doubleheader Tuesday afternoon in Cochran. This Trojan team was far different from those BC faced then.

In game one, the Royals scored nine runs in the first inning. Leading 11-1 in the third, Eli Mullis hit a grand slam. Matt Huff’s RBI single was the clincher in a 16-1 victory.

The umpire watches the ball Little threw to Willie Harris at first to complete a double play.

Mullis was 2 for 3 with 4 RBI. Huff went 1 for 2 with 3 RBI. Conner Senters was 2 for 2. Ethan Hulsey went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI. J.R. Fordham was 1 for 2 with 2 RBI. Matthew Bland and Caleb Senters both went 1 for 2.

Game two saw BC go up 3-0 in the second on Conner Senters’ RBI groundout. Lamar scored in the third. Pitching then took over as both teams missed opportunities to score. Finally in the sixth, the Royal offense erupted for six runs.

Seners then went to first.

Huff pitching in relief in the seventh, gave up a leadoff walk but struck out the side to preserve BC’s 9-1 win. He was 1 for 2. J.R. Fordham went six innings, striking out seven with three walks. He also went 2 for 4 with an RBI.
