And they didn't know it.
Citizens in Bleckley County, Dodge County and Pulaski County and surrounding areas have the opportunity to utilize the campus for their benefits as well.
Within reason of course.
And the campus, in Cochran, is truly a treasure.
The biggest gem on campus, in the opinion of many , is the most recently renovated Roberts Library.
Named for Dr. Lucien E. Roberts, president of Middle Georgia college from 1950 to 1964, the library was originally housed in Walker Hall and later moved to Sanford Hall.
Construction on the current three story Roberts library was completed in 1965, and an addition was completed in 1991.
On January 26, 2021, highly anticipated ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the newly renovated library.
Major improvements resulted in a new learning commons, reorganize book collections, more study areas and a mix of lounge and collaboration spaces.
An impressive archive, with items pictured here, including an original cloth map of a colored section of a cemetery in Cochran, baseball bats from Warrior baseball championships, corner stones from original Ebenezer School before it burned and much more, is in the process of being organized and displayed for community and college members.
With a great public Library downtown, it's nice to know that there is another library in the community that citizens can visit, and can apply for a community member card so that they can check out books as well.
