BCHS Golf was at Southern Hills Golf Club in Hawkinsville this week for state, where they were both a host school and participant. There were 12 boys and 12 girls teams, each side had four individuals.

Ty Cranford led the boys team on day one with a score of 71, putting him in third place individually. Paul Andrews chipped in with an 80. Chase Jones shot an 87, Weston Skipper a 92, giving the boys a team score of 330. It was good for sixth place.

Lucy Wiegert led the girls with a 78 after day one. Anna Johnson’s 107 gave them a score of 185, fifth place. Both teams were ready to continue after their good first round performances.

Weather became a factor on day two (rain, heat, wind.) Despite that, the boys kept their sixth place standing, their best finish since finishing fourth in 2015. Cranford finished his high school career with a 78, fourth individually. Andrews and Skipper both shot their career best in round two individually (77, 88.) Jones added a 92.

The boys team score for round two was 334, 664 overall. Wiegert again led the girls in round two, shooting a 79. Shana Nobles added a 113 giving the girls a day two score of 192, 377 overall. Wiegert finished third individually.

Head coach Dave Wiegert said in a statement, “I just can’t say enough about either of these teams. They have worked so hard over the past few years and that effort showed. I appreciate the leadership of our four seniors, and they will be greatly missed! I am anxious to continue the tremendous momentum that the teams have started. I think the future of Royals golf is bright!
